What Are Red Emergency Phones?
Red emergency phones are landline phones that operate using Centrex service. This allows them to function independently of the UCSF network or power grid, making them a reliable communication option during emergencies when other systems might fail.
Why They Matter
In a disaster or power outage, red emergency phones may be one of the only ways to communicate with critical departments, external partners, or emergency services. Their reliability makes them a key component of UCSF’s emergency preparedness.
