Make A Plan

Create Your Emergency Plan

One plan can help you get ready for most emergencies. A solid plan helps you connect with family and friends, have a safe place to meet, and coordinate quickly.

What To Think Through As You Make Your Plan

My People:

  • List your main group — family, friends, neighbors, or caregivers.
  • Decide who you’ll contact first in an emergency.
  • Note who may need extra help, like older adults, children, or people with disabilities.
  • Plan who can provide a ride if needed.

Our Meeting Spots:

  • Pick easy-to-find places near where you spend time most.
  • Choose spots that are safe and away from buildings, trees, and power lines.
  • Have at least two meeting places where everyone can reconnect.

Our Out-of-Area Contact:

  • Select a trusted friend or family member outside your area.
  • Share their number so everyone knows who to check in with.
  • This person can relay updates and help your group stay connected.

UCSF Safety Tip

Save digital and printed copies of your emergency plan along with important personal documents, like your driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate. Keep the printed copies in your Go Bag and store digital versions safely online.
